Join us for a behind the scenes tour of the nuclear reactor at the University of Maryland. See the eerie blue glow of Cherenkov radiation and a demonstration of how beams of neutrons from the reactor can be used to image materials. Other highlights will include a small particle accelerator called a cyclotron, and a quirky historical collection of radiation detection equipment and other treasures of the nuclear era. When: Saturday, November 2, 2018, 10:00 am. Where: Meet at 10 at the College Park metro station. From there we will take a quick bus ride to the university.
