Calling all map enthusiasts! See some of the rare and historical maps that are part of the USGS collection during a private tour of the USGS map room and library in Reston. The tour will start with a brief history of the USGS Library and then guides will share items from the Rare Book room - including some original land survey pieces. Visitors will see a variety of maps of the New Madrid area, the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii, along with topographic maps of the Appalachian region, some 19th-century Alaska maps and several items from the USGS rare maps collection.
