  • Select this option if you have your own kayak that you can bring.
  • The first 20 DCSWA members who sign up will have a kayak provided free of charge. There are 10 kayaks so DCSWA members will double up with each kayak.
  • 5 DCSWA members can visit Mallow's Bay on a pontoon. The pontoon may not get as close as the kayaks, but it is still a good experience.

Come visit the largest collection of shipwrecks in the Western Hemisphere by kayak! The Chesapeake Conservancy has been taking photos of shipwrecks poking out of the water in Mallows Bay, known as the “Ghost Fleet,” in an effort to build a Google streetview-like digital map of the Bay. The site has been nominated for marine sanctuary status. We will be joined by a local historian.

The first 10 DCSWA members will have free admission and will be provided kayaks. DCSWA members are allowed to bring their own kayak at no charge. An additional 5 spots are available for members who want to visit the site by pontoon. Please e-mail the organizer to inquire about bringing a guest. If available, guests of DCSWA members may be charged for kayak rental, unless they bring their own kayak.

Details on transportation to Mallow’s Bay will be decided after registration. We will meet in DC at 8am.
