Professional Development Day, a full-day professional development event for science writers, has been DCSWA’s signature event since 2006. Every year, between 100 and 150 science reporters, PIOs, editors, radio and video producers and freelancers gather for a fun and exciting day of networking and skill-building!

This year, PDD will include six panel sessions, three more interactive workshops, a plenary speaker, lunch, all-day resume coaching, and one-on-one pitching sessions with editors from top science publications.

This year's plenary speaker is Juliet Eilperin from the Washington Post. Previously a national environmental reporter, she now serves as the WaPo's senior national affairs correspondent. With experiences in both environment and politics, she will give a talk about notable moments in her career as well as her recent experiences in journalism in the current climate.

The panel sessions and interactive workshops are listed below. Registration for all hands-on workshops are to be done ahead of time and are on a first come, first serve basis.
